Every Day is Earth Day Decatur
Join us April 22, 2023 1-4pm to celebrate Earth Day!
On Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 1-4pm, we will celebrate Earth Day on Decatur Square. R2D2 will make an appearance and we'll have lots of family fun activities. Last year we were happy to hand out reusable straws and coloring books from the Environmental Sustainability Board, frisbees and squishy balls from Active Living, and tree seedlings and milkweed seeds from our city arborists. Our axolotl, Oshawott, was a big attraction (no offense, composting worms and honeybees...you were great, too, and much harder working!). They'll return, perhaps with some other animal friends. Participants had fun with yard games, yoga, and learning about sustainability and the environment from our educational booths. Look for similar fun activities (and maybe returns of fan favorites) this coming year! (see schedule for details and times as they develop) This event was a partnership between Decatur's Environmental Sustainability and Active Living Boards and Decatur First United Methodist Church. We had a great time last year and want to again thank some of our sponsors: City of Decatur, Decatur First UMC, Decatur Cares About Climate, Beecatur, and Clarity Fitness. We're actively looking for more partners, so if you'd like to join us, contact us at: info@earthdaydecatur.org.
Earth Day is every day! We encourage you to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors and celebrate our home - Planet Earth!
