Join us April 20th, 2024 to celebrate Earth Day in Decatur!

Earth Day Decatur will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 11am-2pm on Decatur Square.

We intend to have a full line up. Last year the mayor, R2D2, a biker scout, Rey, a purple BB8, and many others joined us, and we had lots of family fun activities. Free tree seedlings went to participants from our city arborists. Our axolotl, Oshawott, returned with the honeybees, and the number of booths and participants increased dramatically.  Participants had fun with yard games, basketball, yoga, and learning about sustainability and the environment from our educational booths. Look for similar fun activities and returns of some fan favorites in 2024! See schedule for details and times as they develop.

This event is a partnership between Decatur's Environmental Sustainability and Parks & Recreation Boards and Decatur First United Methodist Church. We had a great time in 2023 and want to again thank some of our sponsors: City of Decatur, Decatur First UMC, Decatur Cares About Climate, Beecatur, Clarity Fitness, and Core Studios. We're actively looking for more partners, so if you'd like to join us, contact us at: info@earthdaydecatur.org

Earth Day is every day! We encourage you to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors and celebrate our home - Planet Earth!
